Little Auk
A small, easy to paddle kayak you can build at home
Little Auk: This little boat is
designed for someone who wants a light, easy to handle paddle-boat of
distinctive character. Its small size makes it easy to put on the roof of a car
or on deck of yacht and transport it to explore your favourite lake or harbour.
Once there, you will be able to gunkhole into places inaccessible by any other
boat. Its stability assures that it is not an adventure just sitting in her.
This is an off-shoot of Nick Schades
Great Auk design.
He has made an 11 ft long version of this boat for a customer who wanted
something slightly longer. I feel the 11 footer looks and performs better than
the 10 footer. I currently enclose drawings so you can make the boat either 10'
or 11'. These small sizes are good for someone who wants a really lightweight,
easy to lift and store kayak. If you want a little better open water performance
in a small boat, look at the
14' Great Auk.
